We are currently seeking a Construction Engineering Inspector Trainee to join our team and support essential projects in Baldwin/Mobile County, Alabama.

What you'll be doing

  • Conduct routine inspections of construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with contract specifications, including calculations and electronic reporting.
  • Review truck load tickets for roadway aggregate base course.
  • Carry out simple sampling, inspection, and testing of materials.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to contracts, including measuring pay item quantities, project close-out procedures, and documentation required by the Department.
  • Transport material test samples from job sites to designated laboratory locations.

What you need to have

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fundamental knowledge of surveying, highway construction, or design.
  • General proficiency in mathematical functions and experience with basic office equipment like calculators.
  • Able to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection guidelines.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to work in the United States.
  • An availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Preferably, at least one (1) year of experience related to transportation.
  • Commitment to applying safety standards and procedures to all operations.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, adhering to federal regulations.
  • A clean motor vehicle report (MVR) and the possibility of a post-offer fit for duty evaluation.
