Position Overview
Thompson Engineering is seeking an experienced Driller to join our Mobile office. This position requires regular travel to project sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on drilling experience and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Operate drilling equipment to obtain soil samples for geotechnical analysis.
+ Conduct accurate visual inspections and log soil samples for reporting.
+ Hold and guide drill rods during drilling operations.
+ Load and unload drilling equipment from company vehicles.
+ Safely drive company vehicles to and from job sites.
+ Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members.
+ Maintain consistent, on-time attendance.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ 2–5 years of experience in soil drilling.
+ Valid driver's license required.
+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
+ Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
+ Work outdoors up to 100% of scheduled hours in varying weather conditions.
+ Stand for up to 8 hours per day and walk on uneven or unstable surfaces (concrete, dirt, gravel, etc.).
+ Bend, stoop, climb, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
+ Use hands to operate, assemble, and maintain tools and equipment.
+ Communicate effectively in person and by phone/radio.
+ Drive company vehicles safely.
+ Ability to travel frequently, work flexible hours, and stay overnight as required.
