POSITION SUMMARY

The Housing Coordinator is a fulltime non-exempt position responsible for working closely with the case management and intake staff in order to assist families participating in SSVF projects to identify appropriate housing opportunities. The Housing Coordinator provides training to clients in regards to different housing opportunities, budgeting, maintaining a household and others that are deemed necessary.

As an integral part of the Housing Coordinator's responsibilities, this person is required to maintain relationships with landlords, private and non-profit, who will work with the organization's clients. The Housing Coordinator will also conduct inspections on units that will be occupied by leasing agencies to identify and list housing deemed habitable and that meet the federal rent reasonableness standards. Working with case management services seeking housing for the homeless and at-risk individuals and families to facilitate housing placement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct on-site inspection as required anytime a program participate is receiving financial assistance and moving into a new unit

Develop working relationships with area landlords and leasing agencies

Conduct housing inspections to ensure compliance and federal habitability standards and lead-based paint standards

Provide assistance to community organizations seeking housing for individuals and families

Maintain a Housing Directory which should at minimum include documentation of all contacts with housing providers including: corporation name if applicable, name of contact, address, phone, date of contact and result of contact

Provide training on the use of the housing database

Research housing topics, collect and organize housing information for clients and staff

Ensure compliance with all agency policies

Provide direct consultation to facilitate use of the database and housing placement

Provide direct assistance as needed to ensure that the housing database and system serves the purposes intended

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Keep accurate records and reports as directed

Participate in required training

Attend department meetings and staff meetings

Ability to communicate with participants, as well as, VA and community resources.

Become familiar with agencies and procedures for mainstream benefits applications

Become familiar with PSH Case Management Model

Become familiar with HUD rules and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred or minimum 3 years' experience in the field of Housing Inspection and Building Maintenance
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to interpret Housing First, Inc. programs to general public and clients
  • Ability to plan and organize self and work to meet goals
  • Must have a valid driver license and clean driving record
