SUMMARY

The Lead Sales Associate is instrumental in maintaining a clean, customer-focused store. The primary responsibilities of the Lead Sales Associate encompass assisting customers in locating and buying merchandise, managing a cash register, stocking and recovering goods, cleaning the store, and performing other tasks assigned by the Store Manager. These responsibilities serve to maximize store profit and customer satisfaction while ensuring the protection of the company assets. Lead Sales Associates function as Sales Associates and assume a lead role in the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager's absence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include

• Delivering excellent customer service leadership; greeting and assisting customers.
• Managing cash register and scanner to itemize customer’s purchases, and collect payments. Bagging goods, and helping customers with merchandise as necessary.
• Adhering to company procedures for receiving, unpacking, and stocking merchandise; and setting up merchandise displays.
• Ensuring store cleanliness; attending to tasks like taking out the trash, cleaning floors, maintaining restrooms and stockrooms, and assisting in setting up sidewalk displays.
• Assisting in implementing and maintaining planograms.
• Performing activities usually carried out by Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following knowledge and skills are necessary

• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding safety regulations and practices.
• Ability to read and adhere to planograms and merchandise presentation guides.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Proficiency in cash register operations.
• Understanding cash, facility, and safety control rules.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit management.
• Ability to commute to the bank for depositing funds.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience, or related training/experience, are preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling to manage checkout station, restock items and unload trucks.
• Regular usage of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, price guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers.
• Lifting weights of up to 40 pounds frequently and occasionally lifting up to 55 pounds.
• Occasionally climbing heights of up to six feet using a step ladder.
• High-paced environment with moderate noise level.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Occasionally driving/using personal transport to make bank deposits, attend management meetings, and travel to other Dollar General stores.
