JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Electrician to support the dismantling and disposal of vessels in compliance with DoD regulations, environmental standards, and workplace safety requirements. This position is designed for individuals developing their electrical trade skills while working under the supervision of licensed Journeyman and Master Electricians. The Apprentice Electrician will assist in installing and maintaining electrical systems in industrial settings, ensuring all work complies with safety standards and electrical codes. This is a hands-on role in a shipyard environment with significant focus on safety, teamwork, and learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist licensed electricians in the installation of wiring systems, electrical fixtures, and control devices.
  • Support troubleshooting and repair of electrical issues under supervision.
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, and electrical codes to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Collaborate with electricians and other construction professionals on job sites.
  • Learn to read and interpret and follow technical documents and diagrams with guidance from supervisors.
  • Work in shipyard environments including confined spaces, heights, and dry-dock conditions while adhering to all safety practices.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe and functional condition.
  • Document work activities as directed and ensure proper labeling of circuits, panels, and components.
  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and classroom instruction as part of the apprenticeship program.
  • Uphold safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment concerns.
  • Demonstrate increasing responsibility and technical proficiency as experience grows.
  • Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
