Position Description: The Parent Educator delivers the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, fostering strong partnerships with families by promoting parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being. This is accomplished through personal visits, group meetings, developmental screenings, and referrals to community resources
Job Classification: Hourly Nonexempt, Part-Time
Essential Functions
- Deliver the Parents as Teachers model through home visits, group connections, developmental screenings, and family referrals.
- Plan, conduct, and document personal visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being.
- Use the PAT Foundational Curriculum to share research-based parenting and child development information.
- Assess family needs and provide guidance, support, and developmentally appropriate resources.
- Facilitate group connection experiences and other family engagement activities.
- Conduct and document developmental screenings and ongoing assessments of young children.
- Collaborate with families to establish goals and track progress in family partnership agreements.
- Encourage parent participation in curriculum planning, program governance, and home visiting activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of home visits, group connections, and assessments within required timeframes.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and sensitive information.
- Act as a liaison and advocate between families and community resources.
- Represent the PAT program at community events supporting families and young children.
- Organize and maintain program materials and supplies for home visits and group activities.
- Assist families with transitions to preschool, kindergarten, or other services as needed.
- Participate in monthly reflective supervision (at least one hour) and regular staff meetings.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to maintain caseload.
- Perform other home visiting duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities

- Must be proficient in using basic office equipment, including a computer, Microsoft Office Suite and other basic software applications.
- Physical, sensory and cognitive abilities sufficient to perform essential functions
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or at least 60 college credit hours required.
- At least two years of experience working with children and families in a professional capacity.
- Experience in a preschool or early childhood education setting is a plus.
- Must complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings before providing PAT services.
- Must maintain Parent Educator certification by completing required annual professional development.
- Valid driver's license, proof of valid vehicle insurance, and own transportation to make home visits.
- Must be 21 years of age and insurable through the employer's non-owner's liability insurance.
- CPR/First Aid Certificate within 60 days of hire
Background Requirements: Must be able to pass the program's background screenings/clearances.

- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check upon hire, and annually.
Willingness to travel
- Up to 25-50% (Required)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: This position requires sitting, reaching, repetitive motion, lifting (up to 15 pounds), talking, finger dexterity, hearing and visual acuity. The employee must be able to travel in all types of typical weather conditions.
Work Location: Hybrid remote/office.
Work is performed out in the community, from the employee’s home, or at the Coastal Family Partners office. We will provide a laptop and other necessary equipment. Employees will need a dedicated home office space with a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a workspace free from distractions.
Hours of Work: This position is part-time, 25 hours a week. Must be available from 9am-1pm for the first 90 days for training. Work will generally be completed Monday through Friday on a schedule that is convenient for the Parent Educator and families (some evenings and weekends may be occasionally required)
