Operator Technician II - Silverhill - Baldwin County Commission

About the position

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of heavy/light equipment for the Highway Department.
• Perform maintenance inspections on assigned equipment and assist mechanics with repairs.
• Engage in routine manual labor as required, including using tools like chain saws and axes.
• Patch holes for the Paved Road Maintenance Program and load/unload construction materials.
• Install traffic signs and direct traffic at job sites.
• Monitor equipment gauges and indicators for non-standard conditions.

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class B) and insurable by the County's insurance standards.
• At least two years of experience operating light construction equipment.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends in emergencies or when required.
• Ability to travel to pick up materials out of the area.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of traffic regulations and safety rules.
• Defensive driving skills.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
