Assess new deeds and documents. Gather proper documentation. Enter changes of ownership, property descriptions, addresses and exemptions. Accurately post data to parcels. Identify errors and make corrections. Answer phone calls and emails. Conduct property owner research as necessary. Process returned mail. Calculate taxes. Collect payments. Balance cash drawers and make deposits. Ability to use independent judgement in a multitask office environment. Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check and will be subject to a pre-employment physical. Essential Job FunctionsAssessment Assist the general public with all matters relating to the Revenue Department.Prepare assessments and various applications for the general public. Assess any new deeds and documents which have been recorded in the Probate Office.Enter changes of ownership, property descriptions, addresses and exemptions.Determine the correct classification and proper assessments for properties.Gather proper documentation to copy and scan for record keeping.Identify errors and make necessary corrections. Accurately post data to parcels.Answer phone calls and respond to emails in a timely manner.Process returned mail. File necessary paperwork and documents as required.Calculate tax estimates as requested. Assist collections with payments, refunds, redemptions, etc.Check up and balance cash drawer and checks daily and prepare bank deposits. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the county insurance standards. Other CharacteristicsMust be willing to work non-standard hours and overtime as necessary. Must be willing to travel as job requires and to attend various workshops, training sessions, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Verbal skills to communicate effectively with the general public, co-workers and supervisors. Math skills to calculate taxes, estimate split values and calculate property dimensions.Ability to handle cash drawers and balance daily.Reading & Writing skills to accurately perform your duties.Ability to operate office machines such as computers, scanners, copiers, printers, etc.Ability to exercise independent judgement. Willingness to work with others in a fast-paced/multitask office environment. Willingness to learn other department functions within the Revenue Department.
